  4. I have taught Kdg and 2nd. I loved both but I really like being in second because my students are SO much more independent than K! I'm excited to follow your blog and see your new adventures in 5th. Switching grades is both crazy and fun!

  8. Love the new blog! I love, love, LOVE middle school! I know, I know...people think I am nuts, but I love it. I teach 7th grade and I think I am right where I should be. I love that middle schoolers are old enough to get my humor but young enough to still want the teacher to like them! :)

  9. My favorite grade to teach is third--right in the middle of elementary. They can work for somewhat extended periods of time, they can carry on discussions, and yet they still love school and write their teachers "love notes". It's a sweet age. kganon@sanjuan.edu

  14. Hi Sara! I LOVED teaching fifth grade, but was moved to 2/3 for the first time this year. It has been a very busy start-up, but I know I'll love them, and I am SO lucky to have second grade bloggers like you to grab ideas from !;)

  18. That's a hard one. I love 2nd/3rd because the kids are cute, but lovable and think you know everything. But I also really enjoy 5th/6th because the subject matter is so interesting and you get to have really good discussions with them. I think I'd have to say 2nd grade is my favorite (in part b/c I loved all my 2nd grade teacher teammates).

  19. I think 4th graders are fun. You no longer need to hold their hand perse and they are always coming up with new ways to keep me on my toes!

  20. My fave is definitely fourth grade history and ELA, but I don't think I'll EVER be allowed to leave second! (I've been asking for 4 straight years.) I LOVE my babies, and LOVE to watch them grow, but patience is not my strong point, and second takes a whole lot!

  21. I'm a third grade teacher but I adapt your creative ideas to my classroom. I love Target. I would love to buy some needed office stuff... envelopes, new magazine holders, colorful paper clips, colorful post it notes for exit tickets etc. Thanks for thinking about us because COMMON CORE is reinventing the wheel .... You have saved us time.

  24. I love your blog layout! :)

My favorite grade to teach ... probably 3rd! I student taught 5th grade and subbed various grade levels. I was offered a middle school English class. But 3rd grade is such an important year and I love the challenge of really helping students develop themselves as a reader AND as an author. :)

  34. I loved second grade when I got put there, but I looped with those students to third and that is where I have been the past couple years; I like it...I used to teach kindergarten when I first started teaching, and /i liked that too. Once you meet the kiddos, you can't help but love them :-)

  36. Well, this is my first year teaching, and I have a 4/5 combined class. I really love little kids though. Some of the attitudes in my fifth graders are a bit much for me.

  41. I have taught 2nd grade for years and now I am teaching 2/3 combined.. I am loving the independence of 3rd graders, but 2nd graders still have a place in my heart.. so I guess it is a tie!

  42. I teach Kindergarten now, and had many years in adult ed/family literacy. I love Kinder but as I get older (and less patient) I think 2nd would be a perfect grade while they're still sweet but much more independent!

  43. I have taught children all the way from preschool to graduate school. I can definitely say that primary age students are my favorite, but to choose one grade level would be tough. I love them all for different reasons. I can say third grade would be one of my favorites.
