Five for Friday {August 8}

The Back to School Ebooks are out!!  Have you checked these out yet?  Seriously, they are awesome.  It is over 75 pages of tips, freebies and great products from Tpt sellers, just in time for the new school year.  Click the picture below to snag the ELA 3-5 edition and find links to the other grade-level books as well.

Now it's time for Five for Friday with Doodle Bugs Teaching!

Sooo...I went shopping this week.  I really went shopping.  I think I checked out over at the TpT sale at least three times.  I am so excited about this school year!  Want to see some of the items I bought?  Check out this post!

Oh, and then after the sale was over, I decided to continue shopping.  Please, please don't tell my husband.  I snagged some of Jen Bengel's Units of Study for Reading and Writing.  I bought some fun colored binders and made my own covers.  I've printed all the resources, now I just need to hole-punch them all!

I borrowed this book from my sister a few months ago and knew that these strategies would be perfect for my writing classes.  I knew it would be put to such good use in my classroom, that I purchased my own book!  I foresee a lot of post-it notes in this book in the future.

Another book that will be put to good use in my classroom this year is Reading in the Wild by Donalynn Miller.  One of her suggestions is to take a Status of the Class.  I searched through Pinterest and came across a blog post by The Teacher Studio.  Her post outlines how she utilizes this concept in her classroom.  I was inspired!  I'll share more once the binder is complete.

We named our class groups by fictional settings.  Hence, the Wizard of Oz theme!

 I decided to teach my 4-month old (!) daughter to read this week.  I think it is going well.

I'm off to the beach!  Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. I did some damage shopping this week, too, and I only bought a few things. Bundles will zap your spending money quickly though! Looks like you got some great products, though! I may have to check into that book. Your little girl is precious!
